History
Kawagoe Kumano Shrine was established in 1590 when a monk from Renkeiji Temple enshrined the deities from Kumano in Kii Province (modern-day Wakayama Prefecture).
In 1713, the shrine building was reconstructed, and the torii gate was replaced with a stone structure. The current second torii, which stands today, was built during that reconstruction.

Let’s purify ourselves at the chouzuzuya before entering the shrine!
The Yatagarasu greets you everywhere! There’s even a cute monument of it!
The three-legged crow, known as Yatagarasu, is believed to have guided Emperor Jimmu from Kumano to Nara in Japanese mythology. It is revered as a “guiding deity” common to the three Kumano mountains. The term “Yatagarasu” means “large and wide,” and each of its three legs represents “heaven,” “earth,” and “humanity.”
You can try your luck with a ring toss game. Be sure to pray at the Kayo Inari Shrine, which is located within the shrine grounds, before you start tossing!
I found the “Zeniarai Benten”! where you can cleanse money by putting it into a sieve. It is believed that by purifying money here, you can improve your financial luck!
①Place your coins or other small items into the sieve provided, immerse them in water, and cleanse them.
